EIEIO Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
1. Who We Are
EIEIO is a parent-facing educational platform that helps parents and caregivers support their child's communication development. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to every person who uses our platform, including parents and caregivers who create accounts, take assessments, purchase access, or interact with our content. Children do not create accounts or interact with our platform directly. When we refer to "you" in this policy, we mean the parent or caregiver using the platform.
3. What We Collect
We collect information in three categories: information about you, information about your child, and information generated automatically when you use the platform.
Information about you. Your email address, which serves as your account identifier and login method. Your payment information, which is collected and processed by Stripe and never stored on our servers. Your course activity, including which modules you have started, completed, or revisited.
Information about your child. Your child's first name. Your child's age in months. Your responses to developmental screening questions about your child. These responses are provided by you, the parent, not by your child. From your responses, our system calculates developmental scores, estimated developmental ages across six domains, and internal flags used to personalize your child's course and determine whether to recommend professional evaluation.
Information generated automatically. When you use the platform, we collect usage data including pages visited, videos played, session duration, and device type. We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Terms and Conditions. We collect this information through Google Analytics, PostHog, and our own internal analytics system.
4. How We Use What We Collect
We use your information to deliver and operate the platform. Specifically:
Your email address is used to authenticate your account via magic link, send you transactional communications (purchase confirmations, password resets), and contact you about significant changes to our terms or services.
Your child's information is used to generate a personalized developmental screening report, build a customized course based on your child's specific needs, track your child's progress through the program, and generate a pediatrician discussion guide when our screening indicates your child may benefit from professional evaluation.
Usage data is used to understand how families use the platform, identify technical issues, and improve our content and features.
We do not use your information or your child's information for advertising. We do not sell your information or your child's information to anyone.
5. Who We Share Information With
We share information only with the service providers necessary to operate the platform. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information or your child's information.
Stripe processes your payments. Stripe receives your payment method details and email address. Stripe's handling of your data is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy. We do not store your credit card number or payment method details on our servers.
Google Analytics receives anonymized usage data including pages visited, session duration, and general device and browser information. Google Analytics does not receive your child's name, screening responses, or developmental data.
PostHog receives usage and product analytics data including feature interactions, session recordings, and engagement patterns. PostHog does not receive your child's name, screening responses, or developmental data.
Google BigQuery is our internal data warehouse. Your data stored in BigQuery is accessed only by EIEIO team members for platform operations, analytics, and product improvement. It is not shared with or accessible to any external party.
We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if necessary to protect the safety of a child, a user, or the public.
AI language model providers, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or xAI receive deidentified developmental scores to generate personalized result summaries and content recommendations for a limited subset of platform features. No names, email addresses, ages, or other personally identifying information about you or your child is included in this data. Our AI providers are not permitted to use this data for model training. All other platform outputs are generated entirely by our own systems.
6. Information About Children
Our platform is designed for parents and caregivers. Children do not create accounts, provide information, or interact with the platform directly. All information about children is provided by a parent or caregiver.
We collect only the information about your child that is necessary to deliver our services. We do not collect more information about your child than is needed to provide screening results, personalize their course, and track their progress.
We do not share your child's personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to review the information we hold about your child, request that we correct inaccurate information about your child, request that we delete your child's information, and withdraw your consent for us to collect or use your child's information going forward. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@eieio.com. We will respond within 30 days.
If you request deletion of your child's information, we will delete it from our active systems. Certain information may be retained in encrypted backups for a limited period as part of standard data infrastructure, but will not be used for any purpose and will be purged as backups cycle.
7. Assessments Taken Without an Account
Our free developmental screening can be completed without creating an account. If you take a screening without an account, we collect the same child-related information described in Section 3 (your child's first name, age in months, and your responses to screening questions) in order to generate your results. This information is stored temporarily to deliver your screening results.
Before the screening begins, we display a notice explaining what we collect and why. By proceeding with the screening, you consent to this collection.
If you later create an account, your screening data may be linked to your account so your child's results and personalized course are preserved. If you do not create an account, your screening data is retained for 90 days and then deleted.
8. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward.
Account information (your email address) is retained for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your email is removed from our active systems within 30 days.
Your child's information (name, age, screening responses, scores, course progress) is retained for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your child's information or delete your account, this data is removed from our active systems within 30 days.
Payment records are retained as required by applicable tax and financial reporting laws, typically seven years.
Usage and analytics data is retained in aggregated or anonymized form and is not subject to deletion requests because it cannot be linked back to you or your child.
Assessment data from users without accounts is retained for 90 days, then deleted.
9. How We Protect Your Information
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), secure authentication via magic link (no passwords stored), access controls limiting which team members can access personal data, and secure cloud infrastructure.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and your child's information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know what information we hold about you, request a copy of your information, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your information, and withdraw consent for future data collection.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@eieio.com. We will respond within 30 days.
11. Health Data
Our platform collects information related to your child's developmental status, including screening responses, developmental scores, and estimated developmental ages. We treat this information with heightened care.
We collect this information only with your consent. Before you begin a screening, we explain what we collect and why. You may decline to proceed.
We do not share this information with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to delivering our services. The limited sharing described in Section 5 (deidentified scores sent to our AI language model providers for summary generation) is the only third-party processing of this data.
You may request deletion of all health-related data about your child at any time by contacting support@eieio.com.
This section serves as our health data privacy disclosure.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice on the platform. Your continued use of the platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
